The Havre Northstars concluded the 2024 Harold Gjerde Memorial Tournament with more weather delays, finally having first pitch start a little after 6pm local time. Their opponent was the Gallatin Valley Outlaws, which meant a rematch of a Havre Jamboree game that started the month of June and resulted in a (2-0) shutout for the Northstars.
In this one, however, the Outlaws got the better of the Northstars, (6-4). Havre got the scoring started in the top of the second inning on a passed ball that scored center fielder Colter Solomon. Right Fielder Terek Shipp provided an RBI groundout in the third inning that scored Ezra Pyle. Designated Hitter Jevin Jenkins also scored in the inning on an error.
Gallatin came back with runs in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five times, which included the then-go ahead runs on singles. The Northstars would counter in the next half-inning and make it a (5-4) game after Jenkins singled home Shipp.
One more run came across the plate for the Outlaws via another Northstars error. Havre got the leadoff man aboard in the top half of the seventh, but couldn’t muster up a comeback, dropping the 10th game of the season for the club.
The Northstars will play three conference doubleheaders on the road this week, starting in Great Falls against the Chargers on Wednesday.
