Havre, MT – Saturday the Northstars baseball fell just shy in game one at the Lethbridge Miners 15-14 but responded in game two with a 10-5 victory to split on the road.
Game one was all tied up entering the top of the seventh inning where the Northstars took the lead on grounder to third base (14-13). The Miners gained an early run in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up 14-14. They claimed the victory with a second run on a grounder single.
Havre was led in game one by Kody Standiford who secured four hits and two RBIs. Quin Elliott secured three hits and three RBIs in four at bats.
Game two was low scoring to start and Havre trailed 3-1 after three innings. The Northstars heated up at the plate knocking in three runs in each of the fifth sixth and seventh innings to command the 10-5 win.
At the Plate Havre was led by Quin Elliott who went three for three for six RBIs. Elliott Also claimed the win on the mound after pitching six innings and throwing seven strikeouts.
The Northstars are now sitting with a 17-14-2 overall record and an 8-2-1 North A conference record. Coming up next for Northstars baseball is a Road double header at the Great Falls Chargers Wednesday at 3p.m.
