(NMB) The Havre Northstars swept a conference doubleheader on Tuesday night from the Tri-Couty Cardinals in Conrad. Winning by scores of 9 to 4 and 11 to 4
In the 9-4 game one win, Havre jumped into the lead in the top of the first inning on a Quinn Elliot sacrifice fly. The Northstars extended their lead in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs thanks to singles by Tyson Brandon and Ezra Pyle. Havre plated 2 more runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 9 to 4. The highlight of the seventh was a Tommy Lewis solo home run. Havre out hit Tri-County 13 to 7. Ezra Pyle had three hits in four at bats. Chason Mader, Tyson Brandon and Teegan Solomon each had multiple hits too. Starting pitcher Colter Solomon gave up just four hits and two runs over 4 innings, striking out one. Archer Sawdy got the save.
In the second game Havre jumped out to a 5 to nothing lead after the top of the first, added a run in the second inning, 2 runs in the 4th and 3 more runs in the 6th inning. Tanner Delarosa pitched 5 innings of scoreless baseball, giving up just 3 hits and had 8 strikeouts. Chason Mader pitched the final two innings. Offensively Havre was led by Tyson Brandon who had 4 hits in 5 at bats. Quinn Elliot and Tommy Lewis had multiple hits as well, Lewis led the team in RBI’s with 3.
With the wins Havre is Now 5 and 0 in North District play and 11 and 5 overall.
