Northstars Win Streak Comes to an End

The Havre Northstars traveled to Lewistown for the Harold Jersey Memorial Tournament taking place until Sunday. The Northstars battled the American Legion Post 30 Bandits on Thursday evening to kick off the competition, falling to the Bandits (14-5).

The game ended what was a hot streak for the Northstars, who had won six of their last eight games including three in a row heading into the matchup. The Bandits had an impressive showing, slowing down what was a red hot Northstars offense that scored 9, 17, and 13 runs in their last three games. Havre struggled out of the gate, falling down (3-0) at the end of the 1st inning and trailed by as much as five (5-0) by the start of the 4th inning.

The Northstars offense got it going in the top of the 5th, scoring five runs to tie the ball game before the Bandits answered right back scoring five runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th to build their lead back up to five. The Northstars could not find their touch at the plate after the inning, not scoring another run the rest of the game. Cale Livergood of the Bandits earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound, striking out three Northstars in 6 innings played.

Havre is back in action Friday, taking on the Butte Miners at 1PM, whom they lost to in their previous matchup (4-10) back on June 4th.
