(NMB) The Hill County Council on Aging recently announced that all in person and on-site programming at the Havre Senior Center will end on January 16th due to budget and staffing issues. Hill County Commissioner Jake Strissel said the County is working with the State to hopefully get back to full capacity at a later date.
“We are working closely with the state of Montana, and we are doing basically a soft re-set. We are taking the budget that we have until the end of the fiscal year and we’re going to get the right programs in place so that way we can work towards getting back to full capacity again.”
Home meal delivery will still be available after January 16th, those needing meals delivered can contact the Senior Center to get put on the list and Strissel says they are trying to do things within the community to help seniors with their social, emotional and nutritional health.
“We have reached out to Creative Yogurt, the coffee shp in there so, people can go have morning coffee. It’ll just be at that sight instead of at the Senior Center. So, we’re trying to do things within the community that’s going to continue to help these seniors with the social and emotional health as well as the nutritional health.”
After the 16th of January the Center will only have 1 full time and 2 part time employees.
