CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – On Saturday, September 21st, PAWS of Chinook will be hosting a clean-up day at 10 AM to help revamp the shelter and to prepare for expanding their services. Volunteer Alissa Hewitt says they are also in need of volunteers for the clean-up day and within the organization.
“We’re going to be painting. We’re going to be cleaning. We’re going to be fixing, doing some minor repairs. And we’re going to be meeting our new voulunteers and we’d love to have everybody. Anybody can come. Kids 12 and older are, that’s the age that we’re looking for and anybody that just wants to help out the community.”
Hewitt says that next year they are looking at hosting donor dinners and training clinics.
“Kailey Kleinjan is finishing up her degree in Helena for anthrozoology, which is very exciting. She’ll be back here hopefully in May after she graduates. She’s looking into getting some training going out there, which is a huge asset because we don’t have that resource here. Dogs need that. Especially the dogs in the shelter. They need that socialization. They need that basic training. It makes them more adoptable.”
Hewitt says they are clearing dogs out the shelter for this clean-up day and is not accepting any more dogs at this time. For more information or to get involved with PAWS of Chinook, call 357-2776 or contact them through their Facebook page.
