Pedestrian Killed in Phillips County Wreck Sunday Identified

MALTA, Mont. (NMB) – The pedestrian hit and killed by a pickup truck early Sunday morning in eastern Phillips County has been identified. 18-year-old Cash Austin Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by Phillips County Sheriff Jerry Lytle from blunt force trauma to the head. An off-duty Glasgow Police officer arrived on scene shortly after the crash and attempted to resuscitate Taylor without success.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:35 am Sunday on US Highway 2 at mile marker 501. Taylor was apparently walking westbound on the shoulder of the eastbound lane when a man driving eastbound in a 2011 Dodge Ram spotted him. The driver attempted to swerve around Taylor, but struck him with the right rear of his vehicle.

The driver remained on the scene and immediately called 911. No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
