DODSON, Mont. (NMB) – This week’s Phillips County Fair will feature a plethora of 4-H competitions and activities.
The most prominent festivity of the 4-H Fair will be the livestock auction on Saturday at 9 AM, according to Phillips County Extension Agent Marko Manoukian.
“Right now we’ve got two lambs, they’ll start off (the sale), there’s 54 swine, they’ll follow, and then 31 beef. Should be a good selection of animals.”
People can bid in person or online through Frontier Live Sale.
Manoukian says they have had to adjust their event because of the condemning of the Fair’s grandstand.
“We are going to be a little bit crowded, because all of the open class exhibits and vegetables and things like that are going to be in the steel building, too (along with exhibits). So we’re only going to be able to occupy half of the steel building with 4-H items, but there should be lots to look at. And obviously, the livestock is on full display.”
A complete schedule of the 4-H festivities is below:
- Thursday: Registration from 8-10 AM, scale open 10 AM-2 PM. Pig judging starts at 4 PM
- Friday: Beef judging at 8 AM. Steel building open for exhibit review from 8 AM-8 PM. Sheep judging at noon. Round Robin at 1:30 PM. Small animal judging at 3 PM.
- Saturday: 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale at 9 AM. Steel Building open all day.
- Sunday: Steel building open. Horse winners from the horse show will do a parade of champions in front of the grandstands at 1 PM. Exhibits removed at 4 PM.
