(Livingstone) -Starting tomorrow, fire personnel plan to ignite 16,500 hand piles across Yellowstone and Gardiner Ranger Districts throughout fall and winter. Operations are scheduled to take place at Smith Creek, Shields, and Sunlight roads in the Crazies, Long Mountain in the East Boulder drainage, all in the Yellowstone Ranger District, and at the O.T.O. Ranch on the Gardiner District.
During the pile burning operations, smoke may be visible from nearby trails, roadways, and waterways. However, it is anticipated that the smoke impacts will be minimal, and no area closures are expected.
