Police report increased number of counterfeit bills in Havre

(Havre) Havre Police Department reported yesterday that they’ve received an increased number of calls from businesses getting prop money instead of real cash as a method of counterfeiting.

Lieutenant Lucas Ames of the Havre Police Department told New Media Broadcasters that local businesses should be taking extra care in inspecting money.

“Businesses have just been receiving money that looks legit but if you look close at it, it says for motion picture use only. So if you look at it close enough it’s quite obvious that it’s a fake bill. We’ve seen $20 bills and $100 [dollar bills] so far but they come in all notes. So if you just look and see that it says motion picture on it then obviously it’s not legit”
