Havre, MT – It’s mid August meaning football season has arrived, and The Havre High School Blue Ponies officially Started Practice on Friday, August 15.
Havre High’s football program has multiple starters returning on offense, including the entire offensive line and quarterback. Seniors like Tommy Lewis and Griffen Terry spearhead that leadership.
Head coach of the Ponies, Jake Eldridge, says that the message in camp is to forget the past and improve. “What we have done in the past has no baring on who we are this year and it’s not going to help us accomplish the goals that we have set for ourselves.” Eldridge said.
“Just understanding that this is a completely different year, and we have to lace up our boots and go to work just like we have every year in the past, and so I think that is going to be the number one message, is to take it one day at a time and continue to work an earn the things that we want for ourselves.”
The Blue Ponies dropped the state A semifinal game to Laurel in the state tournament after a 7-5-1 overall record and a 5-1-1 region record. With experience and leadership in the trenches and at quarterback, Havre High football could be set for preseason practice and game one in whitefish.
