The Havre girls’ basketball team had multiple games either canceled or reshuffled due to the weather conditions that gripped the state of Montana last week. Lady Ponies coach Dustin Kraske told New Media Broadcasters that he had to put on his principal’s hat as well to help make the decision to keep everyone safe.
“It is what it is. We’re trying to do the best we can to make decisions that keep kids and fans and everybody safe in conditions that no one can survive in while outside. So, it just was what it was.”
The (7-1) Lady Blue Ponies now have a matchup with Sidney after Lewistown unexpectedly canceled their games for Thursday night. Coach Kraske said he is excited to see both squads at the Blue Pony Corral.
“Sidney, nice team. Having a good season. Sidney in particular is certainly playing well as indicated by their scores. So, that will be really fun.”
While this unexpected break provided some well needed rest for Havre, Kraske said his team is ready for competition again, especially in front of the home fans.
“We’re still trying to work on defensively how we can get a little more consistent on that and not playing last week, I know our kids would rather have a game than practice, who wouldn’t. So, they’re really looking forward to playing and so are we obviously. Playing at home and getting back in front of our community and watch our kids play, it’s a treat.”
