The Havre volleyball team had just one of its squads win against Dawson County during its homecoming matches, albeit the one that needed it the most. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Cassie Krueger about how her varsity team was able to turn it around so quickly from last week’s performance to this past weekend’s triumph.
“It was great,” Krueger said. “The girls had a great week of practice (leading up to the match).”
“We had a lot of team bonding exercises and communication exercises,” Krueger continued. “They really capitalized on that, which I think helped bring in that win this weekend.”
The Blue Ponies will play two more matches this week against two more top teams from the east in Miles City and Billings Central. Krueger said her team just needs to be concerned with taking care of their side of the net despite the fact that both visiting opponents are going to come in battled tested.
“Miles City is fantastic,” Krueger said. “They are getting older. They were a really young team last season and they are very tall and athletic, so it’s going to be a tough Friday evening for us against them.”
“Going into BC on Saturday, they are always a strong competition,” Krueger continued. “We are just going to need to focus on our side of the net and doing what we do best and not being outside of what goes on our side of the court.”
The Blue Pony Corral will host back-to-back matches with the Miles City contest starting at 6pm on Friday and the Billings Central match taking place at 4pm on Saturday.
