The following is a public notice:
Legacy Mining, LCC (Legacy Mining) filed an application with the Department of Environmental Quality for an operating permit (pending Operating Permit No. 00207) under the Metal Mine Reclamation Act. Legacy Mining would expose and remove carbon material which has been buried on a former leach pad at the Landusky Mine. The proposed carbon removal project is located at the Landusky Mine (Township 25 North Range 24 East Section 14), two miles from the town of Landusky, three miles from the town of Zortman, and six miles from the town of Hays, in Phillips County.
Pending Operating Permit No. 00207 would entail the redisturbance of approximately one acre of land on a reclaimed leach pad at the Landusky Mine and the site would be reached via existing access roads. The soil which currently covers the carbon would be removed and salvaged for later use, the carbon material would be removed and transported offsite for the recovery of residual gold, and the disturbance would be backfilled and reclaimed with the salvaged soil. The project is anticipated to employ two or three staff members over a period of four months.
