HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) − On Tuesday night, Havre City’s Council met for their second meeting of February.
The only item on the agenda was an update from Public Works Director Dave Peterson.
Peterson reiterated that Phase 1 of the Bullhook Storm Drain Project has reached substantial completion. Punch list items are currently being completed, and paving will be done in the spring when weather allows.
The next major project Public Works is looking at involves a water line replacement in town. They were hoping for a grant from the Department of Commerce but recently received word it had not been approved. The estimated $400,000 for this project will come from the city water fund.
Peterson also mentioned that the water tank on the west side of town has a few spots that need recoating, which will be covered under warranty.
Peterson says this winter has for the most part been kind to the city, with only a few water breaks being reported. In addition, the warmer-than-normal weather has allowed the city to complete some spring work early, such as fixing potholes and cleaning hills with a sweeper.
However, the fluctuations in temperature have been harsh on streets and could lead to issues this spring.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for March 2.
