(Rocky Boy) The Chippewa Cree Tribal Water Resource Department today alerted the public that they were losing an alarming amount of water in the Bonneau area.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Tim Nawlt (Nahl-t) of the Chippewa Cree WRD to ask about the leak and how you can prevent it in your home.
“What we’re doing is, we noticed our tanks were kind of low and we had one home that was flooded. We lost probably about 25,000 gallons. I think it was an abandoned home.”, he said.
Nawlt was also asked how homeowners can prevent these issues in their own homes during the winter season: “Basically just their propane and check their crawlspaces. That’s a big thing is checking the crawlspaces and making sure they have propane, preventative maintenance is the key, and if they don’t have anything contact the correct resources to help them.”
