ROCKY BOY, Mont. (NMB) – For the first time since 2019, the Rocky Boy Powwow and accompanying Chippewa Cree Celebration is back and open to the public.
Rocky Boy Powwow Committee President Josh Seaton says the Powwow will run from Friday through Sunday in the Bear Paws.
“Things are in place and it’s a good thing for a lot of people in Indian Country that like to travel and go to Powwows. So a lot of people in the four directions are looking forward to coming to the Rocky Boy Powwow this year.”
Seaton says this free event will feature a wide variety of vendors selling food and other items on hand.
“There’s going to be food vendors, there’s going to be arts and crafts vendors. So there is going to be some good Powwow food and arts and crafts.”
The grand entry times are:
- Friday at 7 PM
- Saturday at 1 and 7 PM
- Sunday at 1 PM
The Rocky Boy Youth Powwow has grand entries on Thursday at 1 and 7 PM.
Other events taking place this week include an Indian National Finals Rodeo Automatic Qualifier, a Stick Game Competition, Indian Relay races, and a sobriety walk.
