ROCKY BOY, Mont. (NMB) – The Rocky Boy School Board met on Tuesday afternoon and approved a reopening plan that would begin the 2020-2021 school year with fully remote learning.
Rocky Boy Superintendent Voyd St. Pierre wrote in an email to New Media Broadcasters that under the plan, from the time the school year starts on August 26th through September 30th, all learning would be remote.
Starting on October 1st, the model would switch to blended/hybrid learning, where students would be grouped into odd/even grade levels and attend school two days per week. Students would then participate in remote learning the other three days of the week. This could run through the end of the quarter or semester.
These plans are subject to change based on the status of local and state COVID-19 rates.
Parents would have the option to keep children at home for the entire school year and participate in remote/distance learning.
Full in-person learning will not begin until January 2021 at the earliest.
Plans will be put together later this week to establish common protocols for daily school function.
Meanwhile, the Box Elder School Board met on Monday and decided to begin the school year with distanced learning through at least Labor Day. The Board will meet again on August 10th to continue discussing their options.
