(Havre) – On October 14th the Saint Jude Thaddeus School will be holding their annual Pumpkin Patch Festival. Katie Kopp the Saint Jude Thaddeus School principle talks about the event.
“We have the pumpkin patch, and, in the past, it used to be over the weekend but this year it’s just one day, its October 14th and it’s going to run form 10 am to 6 pm. We’ll have raffles, games, a train ride, face painting, and then there will also be taco in a bag and caramel apples to purchase along with pumpkins.”
She goes on to talk about the history of the event.
“So’ I’ve been here for the last 3 years I don’t necessarily know the history of when it originated but this was put on by Home and School which is our, basically our P.T.A. organization for the school where they help support teacher needs for the classroom. When teacher want to buy something a little bit bigger, they can help support that and so they were looking for different fundraiser’s and from what I understand the pumpkin patch was an idea they been doing since at least 2017 or earlier.”
She finishes by talking about the school.
“So, Saint Judd Thaddeus School was built in 1915 they’ve been around for a long time we’ve been at this location since then. The building that we’re using was an additional building that was built, and we are currently a preschool through 8th grade school we used to have a high school along with it but that was in the 60’s so it’s been a little while since we had the high school part of it but currently, we have an enrolment of 165 students.”
