WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate has passed Senator Steve Daines’ bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools Program through Fiscal Year 2026.
The program provides critical funding for schools, road maintenance, and infrastructure in counties with tax-exempt federal forest lands.
Originally enacted in 2000, the initiative supports 32 Montana counties that have seen reduced timber revenue.
The bill now heads to the House for consideration.
