(US Senate) U.S. Senator Steve Daines today introduced a bill to prohibit the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) from banning the use of lead ammunition or tackle on public lands.
The bill includes an exception to permit the bans on such ammo or tackle if it causes a decline in population by it’s use. Daines is joined by 27 other Republican senators, including fellow Montana Senator Tim Sheehy.
In 2022, FWS entered into settlement negotiations with activist organizations over a lawsuit regarding the use of traditional ammunition and tackle on over three million acres of federal land.
