HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A man found to be at the center of a 2017 high-speed vehicle pursuit in Havre has been sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections, with five suspended, after being found in violation of his deferred sentence.
Gardipee will receive credit for 171 days previously served.
Judge Jon Oldenburg imposed the sentence on Darrell David Gardipee III, born in 1999, last week in Hill County District Court.
The Court also recommended that Gardipee be screened by the Department of Corrections for placement in an appropriate treatment program.
In February 2019, Gardipee was given a three year deferred sentence in Hill County District Court after being convicted of of felony criminal endangerment. For the misdemeanors criminal mischief and DUI, Gardipee was given a pair of suspended sentences of six months.
There charges and convictions were regarding allegations that Gardipee lead police on a high-speed chase through Havre in November 2017.
In January 2020, documents were filed in Hill County District Court alleging Gardipee had violated his deferred sentence conditions, in part by leading Rocky Boy Tribal Police on high-speed chases in October and November 2019.
At a hearing on May 20th, 2020, Gardipee was found in violation of his deferred sentence conditions.
