SIOUX COUNTY, Neb. (NMB) – KNEB radio reports that two people, including a woman from Shelby, were killed, and several children were injured in a head-on crash in western Nebraska on Friday night.
Nanna Flesch, 42 of Shelby, and Ruth Smathers, 67, of Lost Springs, Wyoming, were killed after the vehicles they were driving collided head-on on Highway 20 in Nebraska.
Flesch’s three children were also in her vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
The crash occurred at around 7:25 PM just east of the town of Harrison., when the Wyoming woman was driving a westbound pickup pulling a loaded livestock trailer. The Shelby woman was driving an eastbound pickup pulling a loaded livestock trailer.
Several animals perished in the crash, which remains under investigation.
