MSU-Northern Skylights basketball has been down in Arizona for the Phoenix Frontier Challenge, playing against stiff competition. On Thursday, the club beat Benedictine Mesa, (74-50), but lost to a ranked Arizona Christian team on Friday afternoon, (70-57).
For Thursday, it was the Canzas HisBadHorse show as she put up 25 points on 10-of-13 from the field. Katelynn Forner was the only other Skylight in double-figures with 12 points. Northern would outscore Benedictine in every quarter and shoot over 50 percent from the floor. The Skylights also held the Hawks to just 28 percent shooting.
Despite being up by five points at halftime on Friday, the Skylights let up a (23-6) third quarter, being held to three total field goals in the defeat. HisBadHorse still led the way with 11 points as the only double-digit scorer. Maddie Williamson scored seven points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
MSU-N women’s basketball has one more contest in Arizona, this time against Embry-Riddle. That game will be on Saturday at 10am and New Media Broadcasters will have a recap for weekend sports later that night.
