Skylights Basketball Inks Montana Native

On Tuesday morning, the MSU-Northern Skylights basketball team announced the signing of Miles City Community College standout Becky Melcher. In 2023-24. the 5-foot-8 guard from Forsyth scored 10.5 points a game, 3.5 boards a contest, and dished out 2.3 assists.

Her biggest asset to the Skylights for the next two seasons will be scoring, where she eclipsed double-digit figures 19 times for the Pioneers during her last season. She also shot nearly 80 percent from the free throw line in her career. For her total efforts this past season, she was awarded Mon-Dak All-Conference Second Team honors.

“She has the ability to stretch the defense with her perimeter shooting and does good things in mid-range and at the rim,” Skylights coach Chris Mouat said in a press release. “She put up good numbers on the floor and was outstanding in the classroom. We look forward to her progress in a Skylight uniform.”

The Skylights improved to (11-18) this past year and are retooling the roster after losing five seniors from the 2023-24 team.
