Skylights Volleyball Get Back on Track

Havre, MT – The Skylights volleyball team snapped their six-game losing streak by completing a perfect 2-0 weekend with victories over Bismarck State College and Dickinson State University.

Against Bismarck State College, the Skylights only needed three sets to get the job done winning 27-25, 25-20, and then finally 25-16. Macy Uffelman and Caleigh Case led the team with twelve and ten kills respectively. Adison Falls Down and Kambria Maloy led the team defensively both with 19 digs, and Josie Hasler and Kendall Scheffelmear each contributed four blocks. Maloy also recorded five service aces to help the Skylights get the three-set victory.

In their match against Dickinson State on Saturday, the Skylights were able to capture another victory. This time they played four sets, winning the first two 25-22, 25-21, falling in the third set 25-15, and then regaining their momentum to finish the match off 25-21 in the fourth set. Uffelman and Hasler led the team in kills in this one with 15 apiece. Addison Falls Down and Emily Bird both added double digit assists with 23 and 19 respectively, and Uffelman led the Skylights with 24 digs in the match allowing the Skylights to claim their second victory in as many days.

Head Coach of the Skylights Jerry Wagner caught up with NMB Sports earlier this week and had this to say about his team’s recent play, “I thought we turned a corner on that trip previously this weekend in the third set, which was winning one of those close sets. Since that point, we have been consistently playing at or near our best in the last ten sets we’ve played very well.”

The Skylights will take to the road this weekend to compete in a couple of matches against some tough opponents. They’ll take on Bellevue University Friday night at 5 p.m., and then head to Dakota State University to take on the Trojans Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
