MSU-Northern volleyball has not won a match since Oct. 19, a stretch of four consecutive losses. New Media Broadcasters tried to find the positives when asking head coach Jerry Wagner about his team’s recent struggles and he broke down what each outcome came down to.
“I’m going to be honest with you. We are still putting ourselves in situations, but the Rocky match in particular, we got punched in the gut after completely playing in every area the way we wanted to,” Wagner said. “We went on the road against Western, who’s in the mix for first (in the Frontier Conference) and got everything that we were expecting.”
The Skylights will close the regular season on the road for a clash with two teams that have a combined six sets to one advantage the last time they faced off. Wagner shared the team goals for the uphill climb his team will have to endure this week.
“We have a goal for Providence: we would like to get finalized what we had here at home when we played them and get to a decisive set,” Wagner said. “That would be a good goal for our team.”
“And then against Carroll, we feel like there’s been a lot of unfinished business on our part,” Wagner continued. “It doesn’t matter where we play. We’ve proven that we are a formidable team.”
“We’re going to get this thing figured out,” Wagner said.
Northern starts off the final regular season road slate at Providence on Thursday night at 7pm, followed by going even further south to Helena to face Carroll on Saturday at 2pm.
