HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – On Thursday night, Havre Public Schools held a Community Safety Forum in the High School Auditorium. Superintendent of Schools Andy Carlson says they only had three people attend the meeting, so they didn’t do their full presentation.
“We were going to have each principal kind of present a little different piece of our safety plan and what it looks like at the different schools, but since we had a small number, what we did is just kind of gave a real quick overview and then the principals stayed and visited with folks that were there as far as questions they might have about each specific building.”
Carlson says they have gotten some questions about what these safety protocols look like at the schools with younger students.
“I know one of the big questions we get is what does it look like for your younger kids and there was actually a text we were going to share that we’ve been reading in our elementary classrooms. And then Mr. Donovan was on hand. One of the things we get is what do we do with our bus drivers and how do we handle that with buses.”
Carlson says that they will likely not hold another safety meeting this school year unless they receive more interest from the community.
