HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Winter is fast approaching and the Snowdance Ski Association is getting everything set for another season on the slopes at Bear Paw Ski Bowl.
Bear Paw Ski Bowl is currently targeting an early January opening, with the ski rental shop opening in early December.
They are working on getting the rope tow operational that they purchased from Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, and are hosting work parties every Sunday where volunteers can help with preparations.
During the season, they are looking for volunteers to help with everything from giving lessons to cooking burgers. Snowdance Ski Association member Dave Martens, Jr. says there is an incentive for those who volunteer.
“You are eligible for a ski voucher. So if you volunteer, if you sell tickets one day, you can go skiing the next day for free or get a free ski rental for the weekend. Those are just ways to incentives those who come out and volunteer, to let them know their work is appreciated.”
There will also be a Swap Meet on the weekend of Nov. 14-16 at the old Creative Leisure Building in downtown Havre, where people can buy and sell ski equipment, with a portion of the sales going to the association.
“Ski, snowboard and outdoor gear that you’d like to get rid of. Some people bring in snowshoes or old jackets and stuff that are gently used. Saturday, there will be the sale. Sunday, you pick up any unsold ski gear and can choose to donate that if you wish to.”
Those looking to volunteer can reach out via the Bear Paw Facebook page or by contacting Martens at 390-1238.
