The Montana Department of Transportation closed secondary 224 north of Joplin Monday evening from milepost 8 to milepost 10.4, with water over the roadway in several areas. Barricades have been placed north and south of the affected areas.
On highway 232, water was found in several areas, causing state crews to address the issue. Signage has been put in place, and speed reduction was enacted for the first 28 miles north of Havre.
The Hill County Road and Bridge Department has also dispatched to several areas that are seeing road damage from the rapid snowmelt. Barricades have been placed in some areas, and hazard flags mark areas with the potential of road damage. They are working as quickly as possible to restore the roads.
When encountering barricades, do not try to move or go around them. If you find road damage in the area not marked with flags, signage, or active personnel, please advise local authorities.
