With state basketball looming in Montana this upcoming week, the New Media Broadcasters listening area will be busy with teams in the field.
One matchup from our local area schools was already decided after last week as No. 2 out of the North Chinook faces No. 2 out of the west Florence-Carlton and that girls’ matchup will take place this Thursday at 8pm in Missoula for the State ‘B’ Tournament. That game will air on KRYK-101.3FM and HiLineToday.com.
The Havre girls’ finally found out its opponent as Bigfork got the consolation win on Saturday against Columbia Falls, so it will be the No. 2 seed out of the East in the Lady Ponies and No. 3 seeded Western ‘A’ Valkyries on Thursday at 9am at the Metra in Billings to open the State ‘A’ Tournament. Havre’s run at the State ‘A’ tournament will be covered on KOJM-610AM, 98.3FM, and HiLineToday.com.
After another convincing showing at the Northern ‘C’ in Great Falls, the No.1 North Box Elder boys’ will take on the challenge game winner of Terry and Melstone, who will be the No. 2 seed from the south. That game will be on Thursday at noon inside the Butte Civic Center. Fort Benton’s boys sweated out action at the Northern ‘C’, opening the tournament two Wednesdays ago and playing into the last possible outcome with a challenge game win over CJI. The No. 2 North Longhorns will get the No. 1 southern team in Bridger at 5pm on Thursday. Both Box Elder and Fort Benton will have games broadcast on KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com throughout the State ‘C’ basketball tournament.
