A new meat processing co-op is set to open soon in Havre, Montana. Zach Ducheneaux the FSA Administrator explains the benefits of a co-op.
“Well, the benefit of a cooperative is really producers are able to pool their resources to realize economies of scale. A producer couldn’t stand up his own butcher shop to process his cows, but 50 to a couple hundred of them here in this entity can do that. They can realize that economy of scale. They can bring on a professional to do the butchering and aggregate their resources and access funding for an operation like this.“- Zach Ducheneaux FSA Administrator
