LAUREL, Mont. (NMB) – KRTV reports that a Laurel High School student was arrested after bringing a loaded handgun to school on Thursday.
The weapon was found by a school resource officer, who was able to take possession of the gun without incident.
The School’s Principal says it does not appear the student was intending to use the weapon at the time, and the student told an officer they were using it for protection.
The student is in a Juvenile Detention Center, and separate investigations into the incident are being conducted by the school and law enforcement.
Along with legal issues, the student could potentially be expelled.
