(NMB) Submissions are now open for the 2026 Montana Law Enforcement Appreciation Poster Contest. It’s a partnership between the Attorney General’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol and Stockman Bank to promote public service, respect and gratitude for law enforcement, while giving Montana children a chance to show off their artistic skills. New Media Broadcasters spoke with MHP Colonel Kurt Sager, and he said the contest is also a great opportunity to connect the general community with the law enforcement community.
“If we can get to having a relationship early in someone’s life, IE kids that are in school. let them know that law enforcement is here to help, let them know what our role is and we’re not these big scary people that can often times be portrayed as, I think it’s beneficial for everybody.”
Applicants must be in elementary school. The preferred size for posters is eight and a half by fourteen inches.
Winners will be chosen from each of the seven MHP Districts and their class will be awarded $250 dollars. From the seven district winners, a statewide winner will be chosen, awarded and additional $500 dollars, get a visit from Attorney General Austin Knudsen, and an opportunity for a ride along with Colonel Sager of the Montana Highway Patrol
