Sugarbeeter Boys and Girls claim Victories Thursday Night

Chinook, MT – Thursday night at Floyed Bowen Gymnasium the Chinook Sugarbeeters defended home court in conference battle.

The chinook Sugarbeeter girls came away with a 32-point win (75-43) on the backs of senior guard Neva Lowe’s 29 points and eight made threes to set a school record for made threes in a single game. Head Coach Jill Barta secured her first home win in her inaugural season as head coach along with the team’s first conference win of the season improving to 1-3 in conference and 2-5 overall.

The boys came away with an 11-point win (56-45) after entering the fourth tied at 39 before outscoring the Wolves of Cut Bank 17-6. The junior duo of guard Ryan Bell and forward Jamison Nordboe put up 24 points each in the win. The Sugarbeeters improve to a 3-4 overall record and are now 3-1 in conference play.

Both Chinook girls and boys’ basketball teams will be in Fairfield Saturday afternoon for another set of conference games. Tipoff for the girls is at 5:30p.m. and the wills end the day with tip at 4p.m.
