Sugarbeeter’s Great Season Comes to an End

The Lady Chinook Sugarbeeters basketball season came to an end Friday evening at the Girls State Class “C” Basketball Tournament in Billings.

Chinook was defeated by Roy-Winifred in the 2nd round of the consolation bracket (49-40). Following a dominant (76-61) win Thursday against The Lady Roberts Rockets, a game Alexus Seymour scored 30 points & Hallie Neibauer had 28pts & 11reb, Chinook couldn’t pull out the win against Roy-Winifred. The Sugarbeeters trailed by double digits at halftime, before storming back to take the lead heading into the 4th quarter. Roy-Winifred was able to pull away late with some key free throws and offensive rebounds.

The Lady Sugarbeeters finishes a fantastic season (25-3) overall, their only losses coming to Roy-Winifred twice and a North Country Team that may be State Champions in the coming days.

When asked about the Sugarbeeters season, Head Coach Mike Jones was nothing but proud of his team. “Where this program was 4 years ago to where they are now, I am proud of this team.” Jones said.

The Sugarbeeters advanced to the Class “C” State Tournament for the first time in over a decade. Seniors Torin Cecrle, Bree Swanson, and Anna Terry played their final game for the Sugarbeeters.

We are going to miss their leadership the most.” – Jones

Congratulations to the three seniors on a great run as Chinook Sugarbeeters. Congratulations to Mike Jones and the Chinook Sugarbeeters on a fantastic season.
