(Helena) The Montana Supreme Court has upheld the deliberate homicide conviction of Jake Burghduff in the 2023 killing of Isaac Carrier in Fallon. In their decision
the court ruled there was sufficient evidence for a jury to find Burghduff legally accountable under Montana’s felony murder law. Prosecutors
argued Burghduff helped plan and support actions connected to the fatal shooting carried out by Sterling Brown during a custody dispute involving Carrier. Burghduff
had appealed his conviction, claiming the evidence was insufficient, but the high court unanimously affirmed the district court’s ruling, leaving the conviction in place.
