Three Montana Grizzlies Make FCS Preseason All-American.

Missoula, MT – With the football season right around the corner preseason lists and rankings are Migrating into the news like birds in the winter. The FCS preseason All-American teams were announced on Tuesday July 15th.

On the list, were three Montana Grizzlies. The headliner was two-time All-Big Sky running back Eli Gilman. Gilman won 2023 Jerry Rice Award, the FCS freshman of the year award. Making his way into the UM records, Gilman is a rising junior and has accumulated 2,137 rushing yards to 7th all time in Grizz history. Gilman has for 28 career rushing touchdowns for 5th all time and 30 total touchdowns to sit at 7th all time in UM football history.

Micheal Wortham made the All-America team as senior transfer from Eastern Washington. The QB/WR combo player is a 2024 All-American and two-time All Big Sky selection. At Eastern Washington Worthman, averaged 134.6 yards of total offense and set a program record with 1,093 kickoff return yards.

Peyton Wing rounds it out for the Grizz, as a preseason third selection. Wing is also a transfer, this time from Portland State at the linebacker position. In his career at PSU he made 113 tackles and had 9.5 tackles for loss. Wing lead PSU in tackles last season with 93 and averaged 8.5 tackles a game, fourth most in the league.

The Grizzlies open the season at home against Central Washington University on sat Sep 6th, kickoff is at 6p.m.
