Turner School Superintended Warren Discusses Why Schools Are staying Online For Rest of Term

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Turner School Superintended Tony Warren spoke with New Media Broadcasters Wednesday, April 29 to discuss the reasons behind their decision to keep Turner schools online for the remainder of the year.

Turner Board of Trustees met and voted to keep classes online Monday, and Warren said the decision was fairly easy to make.

“Based on the recommendations brought to us by the Blaine County Health Department, along with the recommendations that the district’s insurance company were making to us, it was an easy decision to recommend that we continue the last three, four weeks of instruction online and hopefully we can hit the ground running next August.”

Warren said despite classes being held online, they still plan on holding a graduation ceremony.

“So, at this point in time, weather permitting, we are planning on holding our graduation on Saturday, May 16 at 4 o’clock in the Turner Park. The reason we chose the outdoor location is it just provides additional space and flexibility in spreading everyone out. And again, we’re following all of the recommendations that the Blaine County Health Department has set forth. They’ve done a great job of working with us, giving us great information to disseminate to the people out here.”

Warren said they are excited to celebrate with everyone and if the weather doesn’t hold up, they will find another venue.

“It’s gonna be good. We are hoping the weather will hold up – I’m sure it will, and we’ll have a backup plan in case that doesn’t work but weather should be great.”
