UM Mourns Passing of Former Congressman and Education Advocate Pat Williams

MISSOULA, Mont. — The University of Montana is mourning the loss of former U.S. Congressman Pat Williams.

UM President Seth Bodnar called Williams a dedicated public servant and fierce advocate for education, working families, public lands, and the arts.

Williams, the longest-serving congressman in Montana history, was also a strong supporter of UM, mentoring students and engaging with the campus community.

Bodnar praised Williams’ lifelong service and his enduring relationship with wife Carol.

Williams’ legacy, he said, will continue to inspire generations of Montanans.
