The Big Sandy Pioneers (9-0) host the Savage Warriors (6-2) this Friday, October 28th for the first round of the Class “C” 6 Man playoffs. With an average margin of victory of over 50 points per game, Big Sandy enters the tournament rarely being tested.
Head Coach of the Pioneers, Larry Jappe, talks about how he keeps his team focused.
“You know they’re pretty well self-motivated, they’ve been wanting the state championship for the last four years and we’ve kept coming up short. We keep adding new play and new formations, just stuff like that.”
Jappe credits the success of the team, to how many different players they can use as weapons at their disposal.
“You can’t focus on one of our guys or we’ll break another one free on you. I’ve got six guys that if you’re not watching, will score on you.”
With back-to-back crushing losses in the semi-finals the last two years, Big Sandy will look to achieve the ultimate goal this time around.
