(Billings) – Recently, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and City of Billings officials have received complaints of nuisance turkeys damaging yards and property. According to FWP the reason they believe for the undesirable turkey behavior is the result of inappropriate human actions such as the feeding of wild turkeys.
FWP officials will not relocate the wild turkeys in the Billings area mostly due to the recent outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza viruses. FWP says that relocating the birds can increase disease transmission and spread and that moving nuisance turkeys from one location to another does not solve the problem of nuisance turkeys, it merely relocates it.
