HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A COVID-19 outbreak that ravaged the Northern Montana Care Center appears to have significantly slowed down.
Northern Montana Health Care Vice President of Regulatory and Community Services Christen Obresley says there are currently no active COVID-19 cases among people that were Care Center residents when the outbreak began in September.
There are some people that have moved into the facility for rehabilitation after being weakened by COVID-19.
In total, 35 residents and 51 staff members have contracted the virus. 15 of those residents ended up suffering COVID-related deaths. The other 20 COVID-positive residents have since recovered and returned to their rooms.
The last positive COVID-19 test in a resident was on October 19th, while the last positive test in a staff member was on October 26th.
There are still “less than a handful” of staff members in isolation, but the vast majority have recovered and none are currently hospitalized.
Obresley says that she appreciates the support from the community during this difficult time, especially from people that helped out at the facility during staffing shortages.
Northern Montana Care Center will continue testing residents and staff for COVID-19 until they go 14 days without any new positives. They are still awaiting results of testing conducted this past Monday.
As of early October, there were around 70 residents in the Care Center.
There are currently 55 residents in the Care Center, a few of which have been transferred from the hospital for rehabilitation from COVID.
