HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A vehicle pursuit on Monday in Havre led to the arrests of two suspects.
A press release from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office says at 10:45 AM Monday, Deputies attempted to stop a stolen Silver Dodge Ram 1500 with North Dakota plates that was known to be driven by a wanted fugitive from Justice.
The vehicle then failed to yield for emergency vehicles and attempted to evade Deputies in several areas of Havre.
The road conditions were snowy and icy and the driver was operating the vehicle in a reckless and careless manner. At one point the pickup struck a parked car, causing damage.
When the vehicle attempted to turn south from US Highway 2 onto 24th Avenue, the driver lost control and the vehicle ended up stuck in a ditch.
Deputies were able to apprehend both suspects, although the passenger attempted to flee on foot. Deputies then recovered the vehicle that had been reported stolen out out of West Fargo, North Dakota.
The alleged driver, 33-year-old Terrance Kane Daychild, had two felony warrants out of Cascade County and was a probation and parole absconder. The Sheriff’s Office says he was found to be in possession of dangerous drugs when they apprehended him.
Court records show that Daychild has previously been convicted of several felonies, including assault on a peace officer in Cascade County in 2018, and two counts of theft in Hill County (2009, 2012)
The alleged passenger was 25-year-old Zachariah Lee Ambler (also known as Zack Ambler). Court records show that Ambler has previously been convicted of numerous felonies, including theft (2017 case in Hill County), burglary (2017 in Hill County), criminal production or manufacturing of dangerous drugs (2016 in Hill County), criminal child endangerment (2016 in Hill County), escape (2019 in Yellowstone County), and two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs (2017 in Hill County, 2018 in Lake County).
The Havre Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol were also at the scene providing assistance.
The investigation is ongoing.
Both Daychild and Ambler are facing several pending felony and misdemeanor charges and are currently in the Hill County Detention Center without bond.
