HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – After having to be canceled last year due to COVID-19 concerns, the Hi-Line’s annual Veterans Helping Veterans Stand Down is back on the calendar.
Event Co-Chair Scott Prindiville says that this free event is meant to provide Veterans with the help and support they need.
“A lot of Veterans come and they just have a sandwich and a cup of coffee and just sit around and talk. It helps them network and helps them get whatever they need and it sometimes just sometimes someone to talk to.”
Veterans can take advantage of services such as haircuts, mental health services, COVID-19 vaccines, help with winterization, help with job searches and more.
“It’s open to any Veteran. They can bring their spouse, or if someone is helping them, they can bring them. Just come and use whatever services are available. If they don’t need anything, come and have a sandwich and some soup and sit down and talk.”
Organizations helping out with the Stand Down include, but are not limited to: Veterans Affairs, VFW, VFW Auxillary, American Legion, Northern Montana Hospital, Bullhook Community Health Center, HRDC, and local hair salons.
This year’s event will take place at District 4 HRDC Headquarters in Havre this Thursday from 9 AM-3 PM.
