Voyagers and Northstars to Scrimmage Thursday Night

(NMB) The Havre Northstars American Legion baseball team is very early in the season and are currently 3 and 1 on the year with a sweep of Kalispell and a split with Miles City. Head Coach of the Northstars Ryan Divish says he’s been happy with the early season effort.

“I like the effort and the energy level. It’s an older group, so they know what they’re supposed to do, and the big thing is just playing with a lot of intensity and we’ve had that.”

Next up for the Northstars is a scrimmage Thursday night with the Great Falls Voyagers of the Independent Pioneer League at Legion Field. Divish says it’s a great opportunity for the Voyagers to get out in the community but it’s also a chance for his group to see how those guys trying to get to the highest level of professional baseball approach the game.

“For our lids, and we have several kids that believe that they can play college baseball and I don’t disagree with that belief, but to see former college players that have had success, hoe do they prepare, how do they go about their business, you know, the intensity that they play with or how they prepare to play a game.”

First Pitch for the scrimmage between the Voyagers and the Northstars is 6pm Thursday night at Legion Field.

Havre will open up conference play Sunday in Great Falls versus the Great Falls Chargers.
