(Havre) – With the Montana Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of the 95 Mill levy that will affect property and homeowners in the future. New Media Broadcasters sat down with Mark Peterson one of the Hill County Commissioners to ask what happens next for the county.
“So now we’re having to go back to the taxpayers and collect that the difference between the 77.9 and the 95 mills which amounts to a little over $800,000 dollars to the taxpayers in hill county. While we may not be happy with the supreme court ruling and the stance that the governor has taken the process now is to go back and collect that $800,000 from the taxpayers in Hill County and were not sure of that process yet we’re still looking at different options we can do. So, the taxpayer can expect probably another tax bill coming from the county in some form. Our stance was not one a stance against education in anyway shape or form as a matter of fact we stand pretty strongly with them. It was just the way it was gone about by the head of the state of Montana and the legislature at that time.”
