What’s Changed in the Beaver Creek Park

Hill County has something special that no other county in the United States has. Hill County is home to Beaver Creek Park, the largest county owned park in the nation.

Lou Hagner a member of the Beaver Creek Park Board explains the evolution of the park from the past to present.

“As demographics change, as people in power changed things have gone on and evolved in the park to what we have today. Now today we have a park that has 100 plus cabin sites out there that we receive income from. We have 100 recreation sites that have been developed by the park, and several of our recreation sites have been developed by families in the community or by civic clubs so the local people have invested in it and taken a lot of pride in it.”-Lou Hagner

The park has come a long way, but Lou Hagner believes there is even more to be done.

“There’s lots of opportunities that we still have that we can develop for our park that makes us unique from lots of other parks”– Lou Hagner
