HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Early Tuesday morning, two separate fires destroyed two buildings in the area.
The first one was a house fire in Kremlin reported shortly before 2 AM. Kremlin Fire Chief Kody Peterson says that the three occupants escaped the blaze, but the house was a total loss. Concerned about the windy conditions, they used an excavator at about 6 AM to fold the still-smoldering building into the basement. Because of this, Peterson says they will likely never know the cause of the fire. Some of the occupants were treated for smoke inhalation, but were otherwise unharmed.
Shortly before 7 AM Tuesday, another structure fire was reported on Highway 2 East near Havre. Havre Fire Chief Mel Paulson says that the outbuilding was a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation. He says they got the fire in control within fifteen minutes and were able to leave the scene after an hour an a half. No injuries were reported.
