The 2024 PRCA Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo started up on Thursday night. Seven events were held inside the Blaine County Fair grandstands in Chinook and here are some notable names at the top of the list:
Bareback riding leaders: 1. Ty Owens, 82.5 points on J Bar J’s Foxy Lizard; 2. Tucker Zingg, 80.5; 3. Will Norstrom, 79.5; 4. Jake Kesl, 78.5; 5. Tristan Hansen, 76.5; 6. Clayton Hibler, 75.
Steer wrestling leaders: 1. Jaret Whitman, 3.6 seconds; 2. Quentin Wheeler, 4.2; 3. Jaden Whitman, 5.1; 4. J.D. Struxness, 6.4; 5. Brady Boyce, 6.7; 6. Denver Krone, 14.2.
Team roping leaders: 1. Brady Tryan/Calgary Smith, 4.8 seconds; 2. Dillon Johnson/Kory Mytty, 5.1; 3. Clay McNichol/Riley Wakefield, 6.1; 4. Shawn Bird/Zachary Schweigert, 6.2; 5. Ian Austiguy/Sam Levine, 6.4; 6. Jace Bishop/Jake Newton, 6.9.
Saddle bronc riding leaders: 1. (tie) Hunter Haskins, on J Bar J’s Night Ringer, and Liam Pauley, on J Bar J’s Painted Commotion, 74 points each; 3. (tie) Judd Applegate and Sam Weston, 71 each; no other qualified rides.
Tie-down roping leaders: 1. Haven Meged, 8.7 seconds; 2. Jason Smith, 8.9; 3. Trevin Baumann, 9.1; 4. Shane Smith, 9.4; 5. Ty Wilcox, 11.0; 6. Clayton Miller, 11.7.
Barrel racing leaders: 1. Abigail Knight, 17.53 seconds; 2. Jamie Martin, 17.67; 3. Tammy Carpenter, 17.71; 4. Lisa Warfield, 17.78; 5. Heather Crowley, 17.87; 6. Ashley Day, 17.96.
Breakaway roping leaders: 1. (tie) Brooklyn Berg and Joey Williams, 2.4 seconds each; 3. (tie) Taylor Engesser and Brittany Schweigert, 2.5 each; 5. Celie Salmond, 2.6; 6. (tie) Montana Brown and Kirsty Stewart, 2.7 each.
The PRCA Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo concludes on Friday night. Show begins at 7pm with music afterwards from the Whiskey River Band.
